Marenostrum Fuengirola: unique concerts by the Mediterranean

There are concert venues—and then there’s Marenostrum. Located next to Sohail Castle, with the Mediterranean just beyond and the moon as an ever-present backdrop, this open-air space is one of those places where music simply sounds different. Since 2016, every summer Fuengirola becomes a small musical capital of the Costa del Sol, with a programme that ranges from pop and rock to flamenco, jazz, comedy, and theatre.

What makes Marenostrum special isn’t just the line-up—impressive as it is—but the combination of venues. The Unicaja Stage hosts large-scale events in the natural setting of the castle, with capacity for thousands of people. The Fundación Unicaja Stage, set within the medieval walls themselves, is reserved for more intimate concerts—the kind of night where you can almost believe the artist is performing just for you. Artists such as Robbie Williams, Sting, Pablo Alborán, and Jennifer Lopez have all performed here, and each season the bar is set a little higher.

The season kicks off in late April and runs through to mid-September, leaving plenty of time to find the perfect night. Tickets are sold on a concert-by-concert basis, allowing you to pick exactly what you feel like without committing to a full pass.
